KANO, NIGERIA — The Innovation Support Network (ISN), Nigeria’s largest network of innovation hubs, officially concluded its 2025 Annual Gathering, hosted in the historic city of Kano. The event, which brought together over 232 innovation hubs, ecosystem builders, and policy experts, ended with a high-profile commendation for the Executive Governor and the Kano State Government for their pivotal role in the summit’s success.
The 2025 Gathering focused on the theme of “Scaling Local Innovation for Global Impact,” exploring how Nigerian startups can leverage regional strengths to compete on the international stage.
Highlights of the Gathering:
- Policy Dialogue: Strategic sessions with state officials on domesticating the Nigeria Startup Act.
- Eco-System Mapping: The unveiling of a new framework to strengthen tech-collaboration across Northern Nigeria.
- Cultural Integration: Cultural activities, showcasing the synergy between traditional enterprise and modern technology.
“Hosting the ISN Annual Gathering in Kano wasn’t just about the venue; it was about tapping into a legacy of trade and reinventing it for the digital age,” said Hanson Johnson, Chairman at ISN. “The Governor’s commitment to providing a secure, enabling environment was instrumental in making this our most impactful gathering to date.”
The ISN leadership noted that the state’s investment in digital infrastructure and its “open-door” policy for innovators has positioned Kano as a premier destination for technology investment in the West African sub-region.
Looking Ahead
The outcomes of the Kano Gathering will form the basis of ISN’s 2026-2027 advocacy roadmap, which aims to increase funding access for rural-based hubs and standardize incubation programs across the country.
